Hi there! The name is Alex Verkade, but as the Paul Simon song goes, You Can Call me Al. I’m a textile artist from Grimsby, Ontario, now living in St. Catharines. I have a Bachelor of Science kicking around from Brock University, where I mainly focused on Earth Science. That being said, I’ve been in love with sewing since I was a wee babes, so more recently I studied Fashion Techniques and Design at George Brown College. These days I’m working on combining my art and science to strategically craft textile art that I can feel good about.
